Pedaling with Purpose: My 10-Year Journey with Braking Aids.

Ten years. A decade of riding, of pushing through every mile, of carrying the stories of those we ride for in my heart. This journey is more than just a physical challenge—it is a testament to resilience, to love, and to the unwavering fight against HIV/AIDS.

My story begins in Kenya, in the heart of Kibera, one of the largest slums in Africa. It was there, at KICOSHEP, a nonprofit serving those impacted by HIV/AIDS, that my purpose took root. I walked alongside nurses administering home-based care, witnessing the devastating toll of this disease. I carried children on my back, their tiny hands clutching onto me as their parents battled for survival. I saw grandmothers left to raise a generation, their eyes heavy with sorrow yet filled with determination.

At KICOSHEP, we pioneered rapid HIV testing, created income-generating programs, and nurtured an orphanage for those left behind. But it never felt like enough. The need was overwhelming. The suffering, immeasurable.

Then, one day, I stumbled upon a cycling event and saw a banner with the HIV/AIDS symbol. That moment changed everything. I discovered Braking AIDS Ride, a community of warriors on wheels, using their strength to fuel a mission so close to my heart.

For ten years, I have ridden. I have pedaled through pain, through exhaustion, through moments of doubt—because I know what’s at stake. I ride for those who cannot. I ride for the mothers, the fathers, the children, the communities forever altered by this disease. I ride because I believe in a world where HIV/AIDS is no longer a death sentence but a chapter of the past.

This year, my commitment has taken a new form. In Arizona, I am launching a clinic to serve behavioral health clients, including those living with HIV and members of the LGBTQ+ community. My mission continues beyond the bike, extending into the very fabric of care and support that so many desperately need..Donate on this link - https://www.give.classy.org/rideforehope
